Statement

Production Arts is only offered at level 3 and is an exciting opportunity for any students interested in the back stage and technical elements of theatre and tv and film.  The course is designed to allow students to take on a variety of backstage rolls, learning skills and techniques that could lead them into further education and/or employment in the performing arts sector.

Students will have lots of opportunities to watch and review live theatre and go on trips and visits to local and national theatres, this is an important element to this vocational course.  The students will be assessed on coursework based units only.

Student will have access to 2 drama spaces and a hall which all have fully functioning lighting and sound desks.  Ours spaces are equipped with correct equipment to fulfil the requirements of this course.

 

Year 12 - Autumn term

Module A

A1 Developing Production Skills and Techniques

Students will develop skills within lighting design and operation, focusing on a specific play text.

 

Year 12 - Spring term

Module A A3 Contributing to a production

Students will work on the school production in a chosen role, showing team work, engagement and creativity throughout

Module F The Production Arts Industry Planning a Career in the Industry – students will develop their knowledge of the industry and the opportunities that are available to them within the performing arts sector.

 

Year 12 - Summer term

A1 Developing Production Skills and Techniques

Students will develop skills within sound design and operation, focusing on a specific play text.  Student will also develop skills within set design, learning how to sketch and create a scale model of a set design for a specific production.

 

Year 13 - Autumn term

Module A

A1 Developing Production Skills and Techniques

A2 Responding to production requirements and purpose

Students will develop necessary skills for the role they will take on for the school production For example, lighting, sound, costume, props, set design.

Students will work alongside the director to plan the requirements for the school productions

 

Year 13 - Spring term

Module F The Production Arts Industry Planning a Career in the Industry – students will develop their knowledge of the industry and the opportunities that are available to them within the performing arts sector.

Module A A3 Contributing to a production

Students will work on the school production in a chosen role, showing team work, engagement and creativity throughout

 

Year 13 - Summer term

Module A

A1 Developing Production Skills and Techniques

A2 Responding to production requirements and purpose

A3 Contributing to a production

Students will take on a different role to the previous project and work within that role for the Arts festival.  Students will develop skills within that specific role, work with the producers and contribute to the overall production.
